Seven Nights - Arenal & Osa Peninsula
Enjoy airport pickup and a private van transfer to the La Fortuna/Arenal area. The ride takes around 3 hours. Your driver will stop as necessary or requested for food, bathroom and sightseeing breaks.
Upon arrival, you will check in to your hotel. Some of our most popular options, in rough budgetary order from most economical to most expensive are:
Options here include guided hikes in the Arenal National Park and surrounding rain forest, Zip-Line Canopy Tours, waterfall rappel canyoneering tours, white water rafting on the Rio Balsa or Rio Sarapiqui, a safari float on the Peñas Blancas river, a gentle hike at the Mistico Hanging Bridges, horseback riding, a visit to the La Fortuna Waterfall, mountain biking around the shores of Lake Arenal or through the nearby hills and farmlands, stand-up paddling, kayaking or canoeing on Lake Arenal, local cooking classes, a Chocolate, Coffee and Sugar Cane Farm tours, and more.
A private van and driver will take you from your hotel to the airport in San Jose, where you will catch a commuter flight to the Osa Peninsula. The drive should take around 3 hours.
Upon arrival in the Osa Peninsula, you will be met by your local lodge and transported the rest of the way to the lodge itself. This may involve a boat ride or 4x4 transfer over rural rugged roads. Some of my most popular options, in rough budgetary order from most economical to most expensive are:
The Osa Peninsula is Costa Rica’s prime destination for wildlife and tropical forests. Most of the peninsula is part of Corcovado National Park. The wildlife and nature tourism here is world class. A wide range of tour and activities are available here, including guided mangrove tours, fishing excursions, dolphin and whale watching excursions on the Golfo Dulce or off Drake Bay, horseback riding, botanical gardens, and of course, hikes into Corcovado National Park. To some extent, some options will be determined by which lodge you choose. There’s great snorkeling and diving off Caño Island out of Drake Bay, and fabulous surfing at the lodges located on the southern end of the peninsula.
In the morning, after breakfast, the folks at your lodge will bring a local airstrip for your short flight to San Jose, where you would arrive in time for check in for your international return flight home.
Note: In some cases, an overnight in San Jose, or near the airport is necessary to make this connection seamless and stress-free.
